Instant-LIFE

Writer: SaumyaMSaumyaM

Scrolling through the memes,

“Seen” the stories,

Wasting time in the reels,

And refreshing the search tab to see what’s new

In the days of instant relationships and insta stories,

What are we in search for or filling the boredom with?

Getting anxious on the people travelling places, not knowing what hardships goes behind,

Counting the likes, getting likes and pressing likes in profiles,

Whom you meet like only online,

A place where we are looking for social validation,

And to feel good about our self for fraction of seconds,

And getting back to the reality just with a log out.

Putting up a post or status on birthdays and on important days,

Nowadays shows how much we care and not picking up the phone and ringing them have become the past…

Now memories are confined in the thousands of Google look- back memories and not photographs (which we laugh like hell while reminiscing the time),

And little what is we remember is the dates without using digital calendar.

I miss those days of landline when only close friends had our number and would "talk",

Birthdays meant handwritten greetings from best friend and taking him/her with you to distribute chocolates in school,

And evening filled with colony kids and with a plate each of snacks, cake and toffees.

Playing late in the evening after our homework, until parents had to drag us home for dinner,

Weekends would be filled with watching only an hour of favorite DD shows and lot of time in public garden without even signs of cell phones,

Where are those days of real joy and no pretension?

That is what we call progressing with times I guess,

But do look back and pick new age things for what they are meant to be,

And not making it a life and ways to kill time.

Instead use it just like a newspaper or for knowledge or promoting you believe in if you want,

But don’t you make it your LIFE, that’s all.
